Dr Eben Alexander is a neurosurgeon who would have described a near death experience as a lack of oxygen to the brain.   That is, until his life was changed by his own experience when his entire cortex was shut down by a rare attack of  bacterial meningitis.  In this article he describes the sites, sounds and feeling that he experienced during this journey which changed his life.  His new book Proof of Heaven will be released on Oct 23.

A Bible Game Show on GSN

The American Bible Challenge is a new game show that premiers on GSN (Game Show Network) August 23 at 8 pm.  Jeff Foxworthy, who hosted Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader, is the game show host.  Teams will  test their Bible knowledge as they compete for their favorite charity with questions such as "When Jesus fed the 5000, how many baskets of leftover food were there?"

Want to test your knowledge?  Try some of the sample questions at http://gsntv.com/shows/the-american-bible-challenge/vip/topic/?id=1705.

It's just cool seeing people come and, within the course of an hour, win money to help change someone else's life. That's a neat thing to be a part of.  (Jeff Foxworthy)

You Lord Are Good

Words into Practice

If I listen to Jesus and put his words into practice, I am like  a wise man who builds his house on the rock.  (Matt 7:24 Monogram Version)

How We Got the New Testament

46 is the earliest (nearly) complete manuscrip...Image via WikipediaNeit Lightfoot wrote the book "How We Got The Bible"  which we are using for one of our small group studies.  This month, I taught the chapters on re-creating the original Greek text of the authors of the New Testament.  If you have not read the book it is an excellent book that begins to prepare you for those questions such as "There are so many version of the Bible, how do you know which one is right?"  In the class I had some additional notes and references which are available by right clicking and saving the links below.
