Gen 1:26-27 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." (27) So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
Readers have looked at this passage and have tried to understand in what way are we like God. Does God have physical characteristics that are the same as us? Is it a spiritual image that links our likeness to God? Perhaps it is the soul that makes us in his image, his likeness? Maybe it is not just one, but all of three of these characteristics of his image that God used when he created man.
